- Other Requirements: Completion of the following quests: Shield of Arrav, The Lost City, Merlin's Crystal, & Dragon Slayer; Must be a member of either the Phoenix Gang or the Black Arm Gang, and have a friend who is a member of the other gang.
- Start this quest by speaking to Achetties, who is standing outside of the Hero's Guild. Ask her about joining the guild, and she will say that you need to get three items.

Item #1: A firebird feather (
). You need to have the ice
gloves (
). Get the ice glove by taking a pickaxe (
)
and going to
White Wolf Mountain.
Use the pickaxe on the rockslide found on the
mountain to get through. Now you must negotiate a maze. The
correct path is: Down left ladder, up next ladder, down left ladder past the
lvl 68 Ice Giants (.gif)
),
then up the next ladder, then down the next ladder. This is where you
will encounter the lvl 103 Ice Queen (.gif)
). Kill
her to get the ice gloves. Now go up the ladder and put all armor and
weapons in the bank, but hold onto the ice gloves. Ride the ship at Port
Sarim to Entrana. Find and kill the lvl 6 Firebird (.gif)
)
to get the firebird feather, which can only be picked up
if you are wearing the ice gloves. -
Item #2: A cooked lava eel (
).
Learn how to make some Blamish oil (
) from Gerrant in the Port Sarim fishing shop.
The oil requires some Blamish snail slime (
), a vial filled with water
(
), and a Harralander herb (
) to make it. Use the oil with a regular fishing rod
(not a fly fishing rod) to get an oily rod (
). Now make sure to have
some bait (
)
before you enter the dungeon. Go
to the dungeon S of Taverly, and find the area with the lvl 46 Black Knights
(.gif)
) and a
lvl 51 Jailer () guarding a jail door. Kill the guard, take
the jail keys (
) he drops, open the jail door and talk to the
man inside. He gives you the dusty key (
)
for freeing him. Go to where the lvl 79 Lesser Demons (.gif)
)
are and use the key to open the door. Travel past the lvl 105
Blue Dragons (), until you find a lava pool.
Fish in the lava pool until you get a lava eel (
).
Cook the lava eel. -
Item #3: The Master Thief Armband (
). -
Phoenix: Go to Varrock and talk to Straven about the Master Thieves Armband. He tells you to steal Scar Face Pete's candlesticks (
). He then gives you a "secret"
password (Gherkin) and tells you to talk to the two Phoenix gang members
located in the Shrimp & Parrot pub in Brimhaven. These two people's
names are Alfonse the Waiter and Charlie the Cook. Before you go meet
them, obtain a
bow and some
arrows (50 - 100), as well as the
miscellaneous key (
) from your Black Arm friend. Give them the
password. Charlie the Cook will tell you about a secret panel that you
can go through. Go through the panel, get past the lvl
46 Guard Dogs (.gif)
), and use the key to open the door.
Notice those holes in the wall that look in on
the room with the cupboard. Equip your bow and shoot lvl 46 Grip
() through the
holes. He will drop some keys (), which
your Black Arm friend needs to pick up. Your friend should go get the
candlesticks and give you one. Go back to Varrock and talk to Straven
(must have a candlestick) and he will give you the Master Thieves Armband. -
Black Arm: Go to Varrock and talk to Katrine about the Master Thieves Armband. She will give it to you if you can steal Scar Face Pete's candlesticks (
).
Katrine then gives you an ID paper ().
Before going to Scar Face Pete's mansion (located in Brimhaven on Karamja),
obtain a Large Black Helmet (
), a Black
Plate Mail Body (
), and a Black Plated Legs
(
).
Put all this black armor on and go to Scar Face Pete's mansion. Try to
enter, but you will be stopped by a guy named Garv. Show him the ID
papers and he will let you in. Talk to Grip and he'll give you a miscellaneous
key ().
Give the key to your Phoenix friend. After the Phoenix guy has killed
lvl 46 Grip in a room with a cupboard by shooting him with arrows
(ranging), grab the keys () dropped by Grip.
Go to the treasure room, unlock it with the keys, and grab the pair of
candlesticks. Give one of them to your Phoenix friend. Go back to
Varrock and talk to Katrine (must have a candlestick). She will give you
the Master Thieves Armband. -
Getting the Reward: Go back to the Hero's Guild and talk to Achetties. Give her the Master Thieves Armband, the cooked lava eel, and the firebird feather.
