  • Hints to complete the quest must be highlighted to be seen!
  • Minimum Required Stats: Lvl 25 Agility stat
  • Other Requirements: Able to defeat a lvl 175 monster
  • Start this quest by speaking to King Narnode Shareem, who can be found on the ground floor inside the Grand Tree, which is located in the Tree Gnome Stronghold to the NW of Ardougne.  The king tells you that the Grand Tree is dying, and he wants you to try to help save it.  He gives you a bark sample (Bark Sample) and a tree gnome translation book (Tree Gnome Translation).  He tells you to give the bark to an old gnome named Hazelmere who lives down near Yanille.
  • Find Hazelmere: He can be found E of Yanille on an island swarming with lvl 47 Jungle Spiders (Lvl 47 Jungle Spider).  Hazelmere can be found in the house in the middle of the island.  Give him the tree bark and he will say something in a gnome language.  Use the translation book to decipher what he says.

  • Translation Please: Hazelmere says, "Human came with king's seal.  Gave human daconia rocks.  Daconia rocks will kill tree."

  • Back to the King: Go back to the king and tell him what Hazelmere said.  He will then send you to speak to Glough, the king's head of security.

  • Find Glough: He can be found in a tree SSW of the Grand Tree.  Speak to him and he will tell you to go speak to the king again.  The king will tell you that Glough "found" a human sneaking around with daconia rocks in his pouch.  He tells you that you can go speak to the prisoner, who is named Charlie.

  • Charlie and the Truth: Charlie can be found in a cage on top of the Grand Tree.  Speak to him and he will tell you that Glough asked Charlie to work for him, but decided to backstab Charlie instead.  Go back to Glough's again.  Search his cupboard to find his journal (Glough's Journal).  Now speak to Glough and he will order his guards to lock you up next to Charlie.  The king will now release you and order you to go to leave the tree gnome stronghold via the nearby glider.  Speak to Charlie again before you leave and he will tell you of a shipyard to the S of Brimhaven.  He tells you the password required for entry is ka-lu-min.  Make sure you have at least 30gp or the necessary runes before you leave, because the only ways back from Karamja are by boat or by teleportation.

  • To the Shipyards: Tell the pilot to fly you to Karamja.  You will end up crash-landing in the Brimhaven jungle.  You must now fight your way through lvl 47 Jungle Spiders (Lvl 47 Jungle Spider) and lvl 58 Jogres (Lvl 58 Jogre).

  • The Invoice: Now try and open the gate to the shipyards.  A worker will come up and ask you for the password.  Tell him the password that Charlie gave to you.  Go find and speak to the Foreman.  Answer his questions correctly (the answers are: his wife is no longer with us, worm holes, and Anita) to get the invoice (Invoice), or else you have to kill him to get it if you answer incorrectly.

  • Revisiting the King: Now when you try to reenter the Tree Gnome Stronghold, Glough's guards will not let you in.  Talk to Femi and she will hide you in her cart.  Now go talk to the king and he will ask you to leave.  Instead go speak with Charlie.

  • The Last Pieces of the Puzzle:  Charlie tells you about a chest in Glough's (Chest) and the key (Glough's Key) that will open it.  He says that Anita has the key.  She can be found in the house immediately to the W of the Swamp (located NW of the Gnomeball field).  Talk to her and she will give you the key.  Go open the chest with the key.  You will get a tree gnome translation book and Glough's notes (Glough's Notes).  Now go speak with the king.  He will say that his guards searched Glough's house but only found 4 old pebbles with the words Ho (Ho Pebble), Ni (Ni Pebble), ::: (::: Pebble), and Ha (Ha Pebble) on them.  If you translated these, the pebbles would say O, P, E, N (when placed in the above order).

  • End Glough's Evil Plot:  Go back to Glough's house again.  Use your agility to climb up the watch tower that connects with the 2nd floor of his house.  Place the pebbles on the stone stand starting with Ho on the left, Ni in the center-left, ::: in the center-right, and Ha on the right.  Push the stone stand down and you have the option of climbing down or not.  Go down and you will see Glough, who will rant a bit about his plan to kill all humans, then he will summon a lvl 175 black demon ().  Kill the black demon and it will drop some gp and Glough will run away.

  • Find the Daconia Rock (Daconia Rock): Now walk through the valley and speak with the king.  He will ask you to find the daconia rock.  Search the roots to the SW to find the rock.

  • Get the Reward: Talk to King Shareem after finding the daconia rock.

  • Reward: 5 Quest Points; 16600 Attack exp; 10900 Agility exp; Access to the secret Gnome mine by pushing the root to the N of the King; Use of the Stronghold's Spirit Tree; Use of the Gnome gliders
