  • Runes: Runes are required to be able to cast magic.  There are many different types of runes (see table below).  Some of them regenerate in various locations in the game.  Four different types of runes can be replaced by wielding a magic staff that contains the name of the rune type in its name.  These 4 different staffs will provide an infinite number of runes of that type, but the catch is you can only equip 1 staff at a time.
Earth Rune Earth rune- One of the 4 elemental runes. Can be replaced by a staff of earth.
Air Rune Air rune- One of the 4 elemental runes. Can be replaced by a staff of air.
Water Rune Water rune- One of the 4 elemental runes. Can be replaced by a staff of water.
Fire Rune Fire rune- One of the 4 elemental runes. Can be replaced by a staff of fire.
Body Rune Body rune- Required for curse spells.
Mind Rune Mind rune- Required for strike spells.
Cosmic Rune Cosmic rune- Required for amulet enchant spells.
Chaos Rune Chaos rune- Required for bolt spells.
Nature Rune Nature rune- Required for object conversion spells.
Death Rune Death rune- Required for blast spells.
Law Rune Law rune- Required for teleport spells.
Blood Rune Blood rune- Required for wave spells
Soul Rune Soul rune- Required for high lvl curse spells

  • Magic Menu: This is a picture of the Magic menu.  The other tab (seen beside the Magic tab) leads to the Prayer menu.  Only one spell can be performed at a time.  If the spell is successful, you will lose the runes required by that spell.  If the spell fails, you will retain the runes, but you will be unable to use magic for 20 seconds.  All of the spells have special effects (blue circle for a teleport spell).  All the spells that can be preformed in Runescape are listed here.  If the spell name is black, you are currently not of a high enough magic level to cast this spell.  If the spell name is white, you have the magic level required to cast this spell, but you do not have the runes needed to cast the spell.  If the spell name is yellow, you have all of the required runes and you have the required magic level needed to cast this spell.
