We've set this server up especially for our Australian and Asian members. Since it's hosted in Singapore it should hopefully provide you with a much less laggy connection than before. Unfortunately bandwidth in this area of the world is very expensive, (20x more than we pay elsewhere). Therefore this a members only server. Today's update fixes a few bugs.
May 27, 2003: Today's
update adds the much requested sleeping bags ( As well as adding a touch of realism to the game, the fatigue system is also designed to stop people cheating using macro software. To wake-up from your slumber you will therefore have to answer a very simple challenge which should be easy to answer, but hard for cheats to automate. This will make things much more difficult for all those cheaters who've been trying to ruin the game for everyone else. To ensure maximum protection we've also adjusted fatigue slightly so you get VERY SMALL amounts of fatigue on other skills. However it literally only takes a few seconds to recover using a sleeping bag, so this really shouldn't impact on the game negatively. Sleeping bags are on sale at all General Stores throughout RuneScape. We've also made some changes to the mining system. a) Since fatigue is now extremely easy to recover we've also put the rocks back to how they were before we changed them. Hard/soft-rocks don't make much sense now fatigue is so much easier to recover. b) We've added another much requested feature - different types of pickaxes! These take the repetitive clicking out of mining with rune-pickaxes hitting the rock 12 times per click! c) We have kept the ores showing up as different colors in the rocks, so you don't waste time mining empty rocks. Please may I ask that everyone tries this new system properly BEFORE commenting on it this time (e.g. wait at least 24 hours before sending us feedback). Feedback from players who haven't actually used the system they are commenting on, is obviously utterly useless to us. The dwarven black guard need help defending the mines from the mischievous local goblins. Help the dwarfs with their latest development in warfare and blast the little green critters into pieces in our new Dwarf Cannon Quest! May 26, 2003: Progress on our big RuneScape update is going very well, so I've put together a page with some screenshots of the new graphics, and other information about the update. However please remember to NEVER enter your password ANYWHERE but runescape.com. When the update is ready for testing we will put in on runescape.com. Beware scam sites that offer to let you try it out early, they are merely trying to steal your password Enjoy! - Andrew May 22, 2003: In celebration of our new poll engine, we are starting with a simple but fun question: Which RuneScape god would you like to answer the next 'letters' page? Please note: to stop people just creating loads of new accounts to get multiple votes, only RuneScape Members can vote. This is important since future poll results will directly influence the future development of the game. After much pleading, harassing, and begging, we have finally managed to get Zamorak to update the letters section with some answers to your questions. You can find answers to some of the best (and worst) questions sent to our resident god of evil and chaos here. You may have noticed that the RuneScape website looks a little different, and that's because we decided that the previous layout didn't allow us to deliver all the content that we want to. The new layout opens the way to help us to introduce some exciting new features in the near future, and we hope that you will find it easier than ever to navigate our site May 20, 2003: Secure services such as billing, customer-support, and the message centre will be temporarily unavailable today whilst we perform an essential upgrade to one of our servers. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are trying to keep the disruption to a minimum, and hopefully everything will be operational again shortly. May 7, 2003: We are pleased to announce that the Bank of RuneScape has recently finished extending its new secure vaults, deep under each branch. "We felt," a senior cashier commented, "that many of our customers needed more space for their belongings, and of course, we were only too happy to help!" This move is the latest in the continuing expansion of the Bank of RuneScape, offering RuneScape members a fourth bank page. "Its all a big con!" a downtrodden peasant was heard saying in the street, "all they want is to wear your party hats when you're not around!" The young wizard on duty in the Yanille Watch Tower scribbled another tally onto the newly created 'ogre activity report'. It had been a long shift, and the ogre sightings were getting more and more frequent. For a second, the wizard allowed his eyelids to drop... "They're gone! Who's on watch?!" The young wizard awoke with a start, "What's going on?" he enquired, sensing the panic around him. "I could well ask you that!" the senior wizard retorted, standing over the bewildered youth. "Locks smashed, doors wide open and the power crystals - gone!" "Gone?! But, without the crystals..." the reality of the situation was hitting him like a Wind Strike in the chest. "Exactly." the senior wizard replied, placing a firm hand on the young wizard's shoulder, "Without the crystals, Yanille is doomed." "Our only hope," a voice from the doorway said "is that some brave adventurer is willing to take on this Watch Tower Quest" |
